my grandma’s recipe
A digital home for handwritten recipes and food stories, preserving family heritage across generations.
Overview
My Grandma’s Recipe is a passion project and digital platform concept designed to preserve family recipes, stories, and traditions across generations. The project blends digital storytelling, community contribution, and cultural preservation, transforming handwritten recipes into a searchable, shareable, and accessible online experience.
The platform is built around the idea that recipes are more than instructions, they are living records of family history, identity, and connection.
The problem
Family recipes are often scattered across handwritten cards, notebooks, and fading memories. As generations pass, these cultural artifacts are easily lost, inaccessible, or never shared beyond immediate family.
There is no simple, inclusive platform designed specifically to:
-
Preserve handwritten recipes
-
Capture the stories behind them
-
Make them accessible to families and future generations
The solution
My Grandma’s Recipe proposes a community-driven digital platform that allows users to:
-
Digitize and preserve handwritten family recipes
-
Share stories, notes, and cultural context alongside recipes
-
Convert recipes by serving size and measurement
-
Organize collections by family, generation, or theme
-
Contribute to a shared archive of family and cultural food history
The platform is designed to grow in phases, starting with content collection and validation, and expanding into interactive and community-based features.
