good start coverage program
award-winning intrapreneurship, agile innovation & social impact competition
Overview
The Good Start Coverage Program is an intrapreneurial concept developed during an internal innovation competition at Allstate. The program was designed to support survivors of relationship abuse by removing a critical barrier to safety: insurance costs.
The core idea reframed insurance as a stabilizing force, allowing survivors to focus on healing, not on insurance, while rebuilding financial independence.
My Role & Impact
Intrapreneurial Strategy, Copy & Pitch Development
I played a key role in developing and pitching the Good Start Coverage Program, contributing core concept development, strategic copywriting, and presentation design. I co-wrote the pitch script, created the PowerPoint deck, and helped shape messaging that aligned survivor needs with long-term business value. Crafting key messaging and taglines, including “Focus on healing, not on insurance.” The concept was developed using Agile methodology and ultimately won Allstate’s 2024 Employee Innovation Competition.
The problem
Survivors of relationship abuse often experience economic abuse that makes leaving unsafe or financially impossible. Insurance costs can become an overlooked but significant barrier during a critical transition period.
The solution
The Good Start Coverage Program proposes fully funding home, renters, and auto insurance premiums through the Allstate Foundation and nonprofit partnerships. Once survivors regain stability, they have the option to transition into long-term, self-paid coverage.
